In 2020, there was an increase in student enrollment by 2400 students at the Edmonton Public School Board.

 

Also in 2020, while student enrollment increased, cuts were made by the provincial government which led to 178 full-time teaching jobs and 434 support jobs lost at the EPSB.

Part of the cuts were also made to Program Unit Funding (PUF) which negatively impacted Kindergarten students with special needs.

“My experience will be important as I advocate to restore all teaching and support jobs and PUF funding. We need more early screening in Kindergarten for special needs. We must also improve training for teachers to support students with special needs."
